Since I couldn’t blog along the way (no WIFI on the interstate), here are the notes I made as we went along. Time of note is given first.
10:57 AM – Leaving home. Mileage: 78712
11:35 AM – Stopping for lunch. Mileage: 78750. Mr Boo had a spicy chicken burrito. I had a Supreme Chalupa, a Baja Chalupa, and a Soft Taco.
11:49 AM – Leaving Taco Bell and hitting the road again.
1:08 PM/ 2:08 PM – Entering Georgia; entering Eastern Time Zone. All times now EST. Mileage: 78847
2:26 PM – Entering Tennessee. Mileage: 78868
2:27 PM – Stopping at Tennessee rest area. Mileage: 78869. Here are pictures of the neat sculptures at the rest area.
2:58 PM – Back on the road.
3:55 PM – Stopping for gas in Athens, TN. Mileage: 78929. I had a quarter tank left, so I decided to refill. However, the pump didn’t cut off when the tank was full, so about a quart of gas was wasted down the side of my car. How annoying! We found a different station (one that had free water) and rinsed off the car.
4:06 PM – Back on the road.
5:45 PM – Stopping at Bojangles in Pigeon Forge. Mileage: 79020. Mr Boo saw a Bojangles sign way back in Knoxville, and started complaining about being hungry. But he didn’t want to eat just anywhere; he wanted to eat at Bojangles. Fortunately, he spotted this Bojangles just before the south end of Pigeon Forge. Lucky him, it only opened about three months ago! He had a dinner with two spicy chicken breasts and dirty rice and a biscuit. I was still full from Taco Bell, so I had a drumstick and macaroni cheese.
6:38 PM – Leaving Bojangles and heading for Gatlinburg.
6:54 PM – Checking in at our motel on the Parkway. Mileage: 79026
After we checked in, we hauled our stuff up to the room, changed into warmer clothes (well, I did, anyway), and headed into downtown. I had wanted to ice skate at Ober Gatlinburg, but they close at 7 PM on Sundays. So we saw the Space Needle (didn’t go up it tonight), took pictures, and played in the arcade for an hour or so. I won lots of tickets. I haven’t cashed them in for a prize yet, though. After the arcade, we strolled through town, window shopping. There weren’t a lot of people out and about. There was very little traffic. I love the off-season! Now, we’re back in the motel, and here I am, blogging. I’m about ready for bed, though. The room heater has kicked in, and it’s nice and warm in here, and that’s making me sleepy. So good night, all!
